The RSA® Award for Excellence in the Field of Mathematics is recognized each year to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of cryptographic sciences in the field of mathematics and its application. The Award is presented during the plenary session of the RSA® Conference, the world’s biggest Information Security Conference. Dsuring the last edition, which was held on February 5-7, 2007 in San Francisco, the RSA® Award for Excellence in the Field of Mathematics was awarded to Professor Jacques Stern, the first European researcher to ever win this Award.
In addition to his academic career, Professor Jacques Stern has served as Member of Ingenico’s Board of Directors since April 19, 2005. His role is to enlighten and update the Board on security issues, which are of particular importance in the payment systems business.

Jacques Stern, who counts amongst the handful of Fellows of the International Association for Cryptologic Research, was also the recipient of the Lazare Carnot Prize from the French Academy of Sciences in 2003 and of the CNRS Gold Medal, the highest French National Scientific Award, in 2006.
