Dalgety Bay, Scotland - 27 Mars 2007 - The Ingenico terminals are now at the forefront of the market for security after achieving PCI PED (Payment Card Industry – PIN Entry Device) approval from VISA and MasterCard. The highly prized certification guarantees that all transactions carried out through smart cards are securely handled by the terminal.
Securing approval were the i5100, i5310, i6780, i8200 and i8550 terminals. Before being endorsed, the terminals went through a series of stringent tests conducted by an independent laboratory that focused on the physical and logical security of the terminals.
All the Ingenico terminals were certified as having achieved the highest level of security possible. They now complement the approvals already achieved by the i3070 and i3380 PIN pads and i6510 and i6550 signature capture terminals.
The PCI PED standard, which will be compulsory for all new PIN-based payment devices delivered from January 1st, 2008, is an assurance for merchants and consumers that their transactions are carried out in conformity with the strictest security requirements.
Nick Parsons, Managing Director – Ingenico Northern Europe, said:
At Ingenico we invest heavily in payment security. The achievement of the PCI PED approval for our new terminals further underlines our commitment to ensuring our customers are at the forefront of the market in terms of security.
