Electronic waste: recycle!

Electronic waste, or e-waste, refers to electronic appliances that become unwanted, unusable or obsolete. This waste may be subject to local or regional regulatory restrictions. This is the case, for example, in the European Union with Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

Benefits of recycling electronic waste:

  • Protecting our environment: electronic waste can contain toxic and dangerous materials that can contaminate soil and water for decades. Recycling obsolete electronic appliances can limit this pollution as well as risks to health and the environment.
  • Conserving natural resources: e-waste contains many valuable and reusable materials, such as copper, gold, silver, plastic and ferrous metals. Recycling thus saves resources by extracting fewer raw materials from the land while also saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions

A commitment to clients and the environment:

As a global electronics manufacturer, the collection and recycling of electronic waste is a priority for Ingenico Group. This is why the Group is deploying solutions that will enable its clients to responsibly recycle electronic waste derived from the products it sells.
