NFC – A Piece in the Puzzle of the Future
Since November 2011, customers at the "real,- Self-Service Store of the Future" in the town of Tönisvorst in the German Rhineland region have been able to use contactless cards such as the PAYBACK Maestro card to pay for their purchases. In the future, items such as the smartphones of future generations, keychains or other technological media should also be able to be used for contactless payment.
Ingenico provides this contactless payment technology in the form of
i3380 terminals in connection with
iST150 contactless readers. These devices meet the highest security standards in the field of payment transactions and are GS1 compliant. In order to pay using this global standard, customers simply have to hold their NFC-compatible card in front of the contactless reader and the amount due will be charged to their account. They will additionally be asked to enter their PIN or to sign for their payment in the case of purchase prices above 25 euros. Their PIN may also be requested at random for amounts under 25 euros.
In its role as network operator, easycash is responsible for the secure and rapid processing of the transactions.
