Ingenico, in partnership with Smartweb, helped enable BRI to expand its delivery channels from conventional teller services and ATM machines to modern delivery channels such as SMS banking, Internet banking and POS terminals. This effort by BRI earned them the title of being Asia Money’s Best Bank of 2008.
Through the Non-micro Project 2009, BRI aims to provide value added services to their customers by adding Ingenico terminals in the teller desk which would serve as a mini-ATM. The terminal will be enabled to provide services such as account balance inquiry, cash withdrawal and balance transfer. Even further, the terminals will enable utility bill payments such as electricity bills, phone bills, tuition fee payments, pre-paid phone token purchase, etc.
Ingenico terminals will be installed in more than 4000 BRI branches throughout Indonesia. A total of 5134 units of Ingenico CounterTop terminals will be deployed in BRI branches that are already connected online to their headquarters. Alternatively, 534 units of Ingenico GPRS terminals will be deployed in branches which are offline to the headquarters. BRI also makes use of Ingenico’s NCC Blade as the network concentrator for its data center.
This project is BRI’s 1st implementation of POS terminals. The bank plans to further enhance its services by providing a wider range of value added services for its customers through Ingenico terminals.
