Ingenico (Euronext : FR0000125346 - ING), the leading worldwide provider of payment solutions, today announces a second major, multi-million dollar order from Akbank for 24,000 payment devices for deployment throughout Turkey. With this order, Akbank has reached more than 150.000 Ingenico terminals in its portfolio, replacing its former range of terminals in place since 2007.
Akbank, one of the major private Banks in Turkey, has acquired 21.500
iCT220 desktop terminals, 12,000
EFT930-G wireless terminals and 7.000 PINpads in 2010. This new order was the second largest one from the Bank in 2010.

After many years with a single vendor, we have decided to use Ingenico terminals in our critical loyalty applications, where multi banking application support is key. Since our first purchase from Ingenico in 2007, we have been using these terminals for Shared POS (Multi Banking / Multi Loyalty platform in a single terminal created by Ingenico) with 8 banks covering around 90% of all card systems in Turkey. Parallel to this strategy, Ingenico’s new ICT terminals gives us the flexibility to expand this use up to 32 applications in a single terminal. Ingenico has been our closest partner developing applications and helping Akbank to be the prefered Bank at the merchants.” said
Osman Tanaçan, Akbank Senior Vice President of Merchant Division.
Multi banking applications along with its full loyalty application are deployed in the single Ingenico terminal enabling the merchant to use this single terminal solution whilst accepting 90% of card loyalty systems available in Turkey. Since 2005, Ingenico has been the only POS vendor with 8 Banking applications running live in big retailers.

We’re delighted that Akbank continues to invest in Ingenico terminals, replacing its former range, and extending its Ingenico portfolio to more than 150.000 terminals. This second big order in 2010 shows a huge trust between the two parties and we will continue to be the Bank’s number one supplier in terminals and in value added services. Akbank will soon start using our web based services through these terminals to bring a complete new set of services to their merchants and card users.” said
Alpay Sidal, Managing Director of Ingenico Turkey and Middle East.
